Some Guys Are Just Hard to Buy For

Is it me or is pretty much everyone born in June, July or August? And I don’t know about you, but all my friends are very much at that age where I don’t have a clue what to get them. It doesn’t help that most of my friends are male because that means I can’t make them earrings. Sigh. There is so many things I can’t buy them like skirts and shiny hair clips because men just don’t go for that kind of thing. But then again it is a massive stereotype that all things deliciously smelly like shower gels, bath bombs and the like are “girly.” The way I see it is that these things are necessary to maintain a good standard of personal hygiene. Since these things are a necessity you might as well as clean in style. So why not buy men soap? Some might say that you are trying to inadvertently say someone smells when giving a soap product as a present, but when you are handing out luxurious Lush treats, you aren’t offending anyone. And so here is a list of some Lush goodies that special guy in your life might like.

Rub Rub Rub

Rub Rub Rub is my favourite scrub ever and it just so happens that I know a lot of men who love it also. Fine sea salt gently buffs away all the dead skin. It is a wonderful exfoliator. Mimosa and jasmine absolute blended with the fine sea salt give it a floral, sea side scent while orange flower absolute makes it uplifting. This product works lovely if you mix it in with a shower gel for the ultimate cleanse. Personally I like mixing it with Happy Hippy. Top tip: pop on a bit of Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner after this one for toned, balanced, moisturised and conditioned skin. Ro’s Argan is so om nom nom.

 Kalamazoo Beard and Facial Wash

Maintaining a beard can be just as much work as shaving everyday and so this is where Kalamazoo comes in. What’s great about this product is that it doubles up as a facial cleanser and a beard wash. Kalamazoo is packed with loads of organic jojoba oil. Jojoba replicates the natural oils (sebum) which come out of sebaceous glands and so by popping jojoba straight onto the skin or beard you are going to make it super duper soft.  Kalamazoo also has lots of pineapple for that squeaky clean feeling.

Dirty Solid Perfume

Sadly the phrase “perfume” does carry many female connotations, but don’t be frightened to give a gentleman a dose of Lush’s dirty fragrance. Fresh is the only word I can use to describe this one. Dirty contains tarragon oil, sandalwood oil and lavender oil, but kicks a spearminty punch. If you like the smell of the Dirty fragrance you might also like the Dirty soap, Dirty shaving cream and Dirty Spring wash shower gel. They all have undertones of spearmint in them, but each product across the range is unique in it’s own way. The idea behind Dirty as that if you wear the whole range then you get the true Dirty fragrance.

Whoosh Shower Jelly

Okay, so if you have read my past two articles about Lush then you would know I am a massive fan of the shower jellies. They are so awesome. Both my Ma and my Pa love them. Whoosh is possibly my favourite out of all of them. Whoosh–like the others– has a carrageen extract base which gives it that awesome jelly appearance as well as making the skin soft. Meanwhile grapefruit, lime and lemon juice give it a zesty tangy scent. This one is perfect for morning showers.

D’fluff Shaving Soap

So this product might be bright pink but it smells like strawberries and cream.  This amazingly light and fluffy shaving soap foams up nicely when added with water for an easy and quick shave. D’fluff contains fresh strawberries for that juicy strawberry scent, but it still has that classic soapy aroma. ( You get what I mean when I say classic soap smell right? Good.) Organic cocoa butter also helps retain moisture even after an intense shave. For an irresistibly smooth face give this one a go.

Hard Days Night Spa Treatment

The spa isn’t just for ladies. I think that sometimes men need to indulge in a treat for the body and the Hard Days Night treatment is perfect. This treatment is all about energising oneself and making you ready for whatever life throws at you. This treatment uses ribbons to stretch the muscles so it is like doing yoga without having to lift a finger, because your therapist is doing all the work for you. (This is totally my idea of exercise.) You also get to wear PJs. Oh, and this one is inspired by the Beatles. What’s not to like?
