Star Wars – Shoddyfront II

I am a huge star wars fan. ever since watching my copy of empire strikes back that was recorded off the TV via a VHS that cut into the movie just after the Hoth scene, I was hooked. one of my earlier memories included queueing around the block at the ABC theatre (which is now Komedia) for hours to watch the phantom menace with my dad. I was also a huge fan of the games. most namely POD Racer.

So, of course, I was soured to hear about the controversy that surrounded the new Battlefront 2 game and its deliciously underage gambling inducing microtransactions.

I didn’t really get into the first Battlefront game. I found the multiplayer was a bit too predictable and samey. you would spawn, run for a coin. get the coin. become a different type of character (i liked flying the tie fighters) then die. repeat.

that was the only thing battlefront 2 improved on. it fixed this by having it as a point score system. more kills you got, more points you got to spend on different items.

but as you may have noticed a trend, I am more of a single player sorta guy. I played an hour of the campaign before I stopped. it was boring, uninteresting characters, poor gameplay. I got bored. I’m sorry. I couldn’t play anymore.
